HOW DID IT GO...

We spent a whole day up there gathering shots of different buildings and where a bit lucky with the weather giving us beautiful shots with sun light reflecting of glass buildings and also the opportunity to get some shots in the shopping mall below the canary wharf building.

There was one problem instead of getting a filming permission to film up there we decided to just gun up there and try are luck. When we was filming in the shopping centre when a guy asked for a filming permit. ahh.... however we manage to work things out saying that its ok for us to film.

WHERE TO FILM...HOPEFULLY...

Looking at the examples we decided to go for somewhere with tall buildings, modern appearance and hopefully loads of people with briefcases. So there was only one place we could think of which is perfect for the role. canary wharf.

THIS WILL HELP...

Now this a film about a man who suffers through finacial problems so i've looked at several films with the same type of story and looking closley at the type of surroundings, apperance of the character and so on so forth...

Pursuit of Happyness
Pursuit of happyness is probablly the best film to relate to our film with the main character chris gardner played by will smith having to look after his young son on the streets as he attempts to look after him when his invested products are not selling while having his eye on a larger opputunity to live a better life which involves taking a strict course which is unpaid.

this is a prime example for us seeing loads of buildings, guys in suits, etc...

FUN WITH DICK AND JANE

Fun with dick and jane is a also about a man of business struggling with money however is transformed through comedy. The plot of the story is about dick and jane committing crime to attempt to get back on track when guilt and revenge sinks in against their former boss when they come with a plot and a final crime which will help hundreds of people.

maybe the clip is ot the greatest example however it shows a few elements that we like.

Do we have a log line???

You bet we have log line...

"Consumed by work and money. He shows no involvement with his wife and family and lives his life lavishing them with money and gifts to fill his place. But as England suffers a finacial crisis he looses all he's worked for. Despsising lower classes all his life he must now live and work struggling as a member of the disenfranchised, trying to correct his wrongs with his family after leaving him when he was money mad.

"Ok, so it's abit long but the logline can be shortend, for now this is our big picture. We believe this would be some sort of drama/romantic soppy type film, with some laughs along the way so not to be so heavy.

RIGHT! Lets get cracking...

As a team we have decided to go a head with the whole documentary idea how ever we have been recomended to turn it in to a fiction film and give it a real story line because the exam board specified that the opening sequence must be for a fiction film so we have transformed it into a drama.

brainstorm

I constructed a simple brainstorm to construct hopeful ideas which seemed to pop up. I started with writing as many film genres as i can remember and see which one would appeal to our group, we all made our own brainstorms in hope that we would come up with separate ideas which could be mixed into the intro.

after selecting the genres that appealed to us most which for me was horror, crime, action and documentary. i started withe documentary with a very strong idea with the up and coming financial struggles around the globe as seen in the image below. In this brain storm there is also a less convincing idea about terrorism.

The horror brainstorm braught up some groosome storys of an alian invasion with a twist and your typical brutal horror. my faviroute out of the two was possibly the brutal story of a group of teenagers camping out at halloween then stupidly explore some ruins when for them all hope is lost.

ideas, ideas, ideas. does anybody have any ideas???

Its show time and we have been given the task to create a opening sequence of our planned film, but before the camera gets rolling we need to think about the genre of the film, the locations, the cast (if needed), the plot and etc...
